Supply Chain & Infrastructure Challenges Demand BIF Vote

Washington, DC - Michael Hanson, senior executive vice president, public affairs at the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), issued the following statement urging all House members to vote in favor of the bipartisan infrastructure package this week:

“This week members of the U.S. House of Representatives have an opportunity to vote for America’s future. The infrastructure investments contained in the bipartisan infrastructure bill are profoundly needed to keep America’s economic engine running.  Retailers are facing considerable supply chain challenges that create bottlenecks in delivering products to meet the needs of families and communities. As retailers problem solve today to deliver for their customers, they need policymakers to make critical investments in our country’s transportation networks, to help maintain global competitiveness and avoid future supply chain disruptions.

“The bipartisan, Senate-approved infrastructure package on the House floor represents a long-term commitment to infrastructure funding that will spur private investment and innovation, create jobs, and enable U.S. companies to remain competitive in the global market. This historic agreement for our country’s transportation systems deserves support and immediate passage. Retailers implore House leadership to bring the bill to the floor this week and ask all members to vote in favor of sending this much-needed infrastructure deal to the President’s desk.”
