Target’s SAFE Retail Toolkit

Target developed this resource in response to the fast-changing conditions presented by coronavirus and the tools, processes and responses that became necessary along the way to continue Target’s operations and keep our teams and customers safe. The toolkit includes templates and guides for employee health screening, benefits examples and cleaning protocols, as well as social distancing and safe employee measures. We offer our learnings as a resource for others around the country that may be thinking about how to operate differently for some time into the future.

With more than 350,000 team members and a global operation, our more than 1,800 stores and 39 distribution centers have been operating and adjusting throughout the pandemic prioritizing safety as we work to meet the needs of our communities. By sharing what we’ve learned, we hope to support other businesses, communities, and leaders in efforts to establish methods by which retail can operate safely.

This guide is yours to interpret and adapt. Our size also means not everyone will be able to apply the exact practices we’ve described in the exact ways Target has carried them out. This is merely one set of considerations and we hope the RILA members can find it valuable.
