Retailers Warn USTR About Impact of Tariffs on American Fami

In testimony submitted to the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), RILA Vice President of International Trade Hun Quach outlined retailers’ concerns with the Administration’s proposed Section 301 tariffs on hundreds of consumer goods. 

“If enacted, the proposed tariffs will cause serious disruptions to the American economy and impact nearly every American family across our country,” Quach wrote. 

“Make no mistake, higher tariffs will mean higher costs to businesses and, in turn, higher prices for American families.” 

“We want to be a partner with the Administration in holding China accountable for their actions; however, we cannot support these actions if American families, our customers, are bearing the burden of China’s bad behavior.” 

Quach will also be sharing these concerns before the 301 Committee, which is an interagency group comprised of several federal agencies, today as part of the public hearings on the proposed tariffs.
