RILA Welcomes Sophia Gonzalez to Government Affairs Team
Experienced Capitol Hill and private-sector government affairs professional joins RILA to advocate on issues affecting leading retailers.
The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) today announced that Sophia Gonzalez has joined the association as director of government affairs, where she will help lobby on the issues facing the nation’s largest retailers.
Gonzalez brings experience working on federal policy and government affairs in both the public and private sectors. She served on the federal government affairs team at iHeartMedia, where she worked with policymakers and stakeholders on issues important to the company and the broader media industry.
Prior to joining iHeartMedia, Gonzalez worked on Capitol Hill, including serving in the office of U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.) and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.).
“Sophia brings a strong combination of Capitol Hill and private-sector experience that will be an asset to RILA and our members,” said Evan Armstrong, senior vice president of government affairs at RILA. “She understands how to build relationships across Washington and effectively advocate complex issues. We’re excited to have her join our team.”
