Retailers Look Forward to Working with Sonderling as Labor Secretary
RILA backs Keith Sonderling’s nomination, citing his bipartisan leadership and commitment to balanced labor policies that strengthen retail workplaces.
The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) issued the following statement ahead of Keith Sonderling’s Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee confirmation hearing to serve as the next Secretary of Labor:
“RILA looks forward to continue working with Acting Secretary Keith Sonderling after the Senate confirms his nomination to serve as the next Secretary of Labor,” said Austin Gold, RILA's senior director of government affairs.
“Sonderling brings a proven record of leadership at the Department of Labor, deep experience in workplace policy, and a demonstrated commitment to engaging with the issues facing the nation’s retailers. Having served under both Republican and Democratic administrations, he understands the importance of clear, practical policies that protect workers while allowing employers to build strong, innovative, and dynamic workplaces.
“As the voice for leading retailers in Washington, RILA believes the Department of Labor plays a critical role in supporting a 21st-century retail workforce. Under Sonderling’s leadership, we are optimistic the Department can advance clear, balanced policies that help retailers compete for talent, remove outdated and burdensome regulations, and better serve their employees and customers.”
