RILA Applauds House Passage of Combatting Organized Retail Crime Act

RILA continues to lead the fight against organized retail crime.

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) celebrates the passage of the Combatting Organized Retail Crime Act by the U.S. House of Representatives, marking a critical step toward protecting employees, retailers and communities from the rising threat of organized retail crime.

“Today’s vote sends a clear message that House members are committed to supporting retailers and law enforcement in their efforts to dismantle sophisticated criminal networks. The House passage of CORCA demonstrates a bipartisan commitment to public safety, and we thank lawmakers for their leadership on this critical bill,” said Sarah Gilmore, RILA senior director, government.

RILA has been at the forefront of addressing organized retail crime by advocating for stronger legislative solutions, fostering collaboration between retailers and law enforcement, leading the fight against gift card fraud and raising public awareness about the impacts of these crimes.

CORCA is an important next step in our mission to restore vibrancy to local communities. The threat posed by organized retail crime networks requires stronger coordination and information-sharing across public and private partners. CORCA provides the tools necessary for coordinated action, ensuring that law enforcement and industry partners can prosecute and dismantle the criminal enterprises orchestrating these sophisticated schemes.

“RILA looks forward to working with the Senate and the administration to see this vital legislation signed into law,” said Gilmore.
