CPSC Agenda and Priorities for Fiscal Year 2027 and/or 2028
The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) submitted comments to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) regarding the agency’s proposed Fiscal Year 2027 and 2028 agenda and budget priorities. RILA’s recommendations focus on strengthening product safety outcomes while improving regulatory efficiency, transparency, and collaboration across the consumer product supply chain.
The comments emphasize several key priorities for retailers, including maintaining technical support for CPSC eFiling, providing advance notice for system and reporting changes, improving recall communications, incorporating UPCs into recall notices, aligning implementation timelines with supply chain realities, enhancing transparency in civil penalty determinations, and expanding the Retailer Reporting Program. RILA also encouraged the Commission to streamline reporting requirements, reduce duplicative processes, and continue investing in stakeholder engagement opportunities that support informed and effective product safety decision-making.
