Retailers Praise Progress on CCCA in Senate Agriculture Markup

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) issued the following after Senators Marshall (R-KS) and Durbin (D-IL) filed an amendment on the Credit Card Competition Act (CCCA) in the Senate Agriculture Committee.

“We applaud Senator Marshall and Senator Durbin’s aggressive push to bring free market competition to the credit card arena. Passage of CCCA will be welcome news for the nation’s leading retailers and all consumers. For too long, credit card companies have gouged retailers and all Main Street businesses that accept credit cards," said Austen Jensen, RILA's senior executive vice president of public affairs. "We urge the Committee to swiftly adopt the amendment and advance the underlying legislation.”
