Ceiling Fan Legislation A Breeze For Retailers, Consumers

Earlier this month, the US House of Representatives passed the Ceiling Fan Energy Conservation Harmonization Act, a bill to streamline the compliance date for energy conservation regulations on ceiling fan light kits with ceiling fan standards. The commonsense, bipartisan legislation simplifies the process by which retailers comply with and promote energy conservation – a win for retailers, our consumers, and the environment.

In celebration of the bill's passage, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi recently visited a Home Depot store in Glendale Heights, Illinois to see firsthand the operations, employees, and customers who will benefit. While there, he met with The Home Depot Regional Vice President Richard Goodrich and the Illinois Retail Merchants Association Tanya Triche Dawood.

Retailers are consistently looking for ways to enhance energy efficiency within their store operations and in the products they sell. The Ceiling Fan Energy Conservation Harmonization Act streamlines the adoption process for energy conservation practices and for that reason, the retail industry is in full support. We look forward to working with on more commonsense solutions in the future.
