Nicholas Ahrens is Senior Vice President of Strategy, Innovation, and Content at the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), where he leads the content team for RILA’s flagship executive forums and conferences, including the Retail CEO Forum, LINK: The Retail Supply Chain Conference, the Retail Asset Protection Conference, and the Retail Law Conference.

Ahrens develops programs that convene senior retail executives around the industry’s most important issues, including AI, global supply chain transformation, workforce change, public policy, asset protection, legal risk, and the future of retail leadership. His work turns complex industry shifts into practical, executive-level conversations that help retail leaders anticipate change and make better decisions.

Earlier in his RILA career, Ahrens served as the association's lead advocate on technology policy issues, including privacy, competition, cybersecurity, and innovation before Congress and the Executive Branch. He also launched and directed RILA’s Retail Innovation Center, connecting retailers with technology partners to accelerate practical transformation across the industry.

Prior to joining RILA, Ahrens served at the U.S. Department of Commerce as Counsel to the General Counsel. In that role, he provided strategic legal and policy advice on issues including data privacy and cybersecurity and helped manage a legal office of more than 325 lawyers across the Department’s bureaus.
