Washington, D.C. — The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) issued the following statement ahead of a House vote on the budget reconciliation package:
"The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) fueled a wave of investment in innovation and workforce development since 2017. Maintaining the current corporate tax rate and preserving long-standing business deductions is critical for the American economy and positions American business to compete on a global stage," said RILA’s Courtney Titus Brooks, vice president, tax.
"As full corporate tax rate payers, when Congress lowered the corporate rate, it gave retailers the ability to invest in their workers, their businesses and the communities they serve. Since TCJA’s enactment, the U.S. economy has been the envy of the industrialized world. As the House considers the One Big Beautiful Bill Act this week, the nation’s leading retailers hope Congress will provide tax certainty on what has already proven to be successful."
