The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) released the following statement from Michael Hanson, senior executive vice president for public affairs, regarding the retail appointments to the Great American Economic Revival Industry Groups announced last night by the White House.
"The leading retailers represented on the recovery task force have tackled the immense challenge of operating throughout this crisis, and have done incredible work providing American families with essentials. Sharing that experience with policymakers and other sectors will be invaluable. However, of the millions of retail workers who have been furloughed by this crisis, very few will be represented on the President’s task force. This is a missed opportunity if the goal is to re-open the economy and get these Americans back to work."
RILA is the US trade association for leading retailers. We convene decision-makers, advocate for the industry, and promote operational excellence and innovation. Our aim is to elevate a dynamic industry by transforming the environment in which retailers operate.
RILA members include more than 200 retailers, product manufacturers, and service suppliers, which together account for more than $1.5 trillion in annual sales, millions of American jobs, and more than 100,000 stores, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers domestically and abroad.
