Gift Card Fraud Prevention Alliance
The Gift Card Fraud Prevention Alliance brings retailers, gift card networks, and public safety partners together to combat gift card fraud through collaboration and education.
Protecting Consumers and Strengthening Trust
Gift cards remain one of the most popular and trusted payment options for consumers. However, criminals are increasingly targeting gift cards through tampering, scams, and other fraudulent activity.
The Gift Card Fraud Prevention Alliance (GCFPA) was established in 2024 to bring together retailers, gift card networks, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to address these threats through education, collaboration, and innovation.
The alliance operates under the RILA Communities Foundation (RCF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening retail communities by advancing economic health and public safety.
Our Focus
The Gift Card Fraud Prevention Alliance works to address gift card fraud through coordinated industry action and public-private collaboration.
Key priorities include:
- Educating lawmakers and the public about how gift card fraud occurs and how it can be prevented
- Enhancing collaboration between retailers and law enforcement to investigate and address criminal activity
- Supporting innovation and best practices that help retailers prevent fraud and protect consumers
