Defense-focused resources and collaboration opportunities for retail corporate counsel through the Retail Litigation Center.
The Retail Litigation Center (RLC) is the only membership organization dedicated to representing the retail industry in the courts. The RLC supports its members through the 5 C’s: Connecting and Convening retail legal leaders; Creating Thought Leadership on emerging legal issues; Compiling key retail litigation information; Communicating timely insights and developments; and Cultivating Strategic Advocacy in the courts.
The Retail Litigation Center is a membership-based trade association that serves as the voice of the retail industry in the courts. The Center advances coordinated litigation strategy through amicus advocacy and defense collaboration on precedent-setting legal issues impacting retailers.
Retailers operate at a scale and visibility that make them frequent targets of litigation with implications that extend well beyond any single company. The Retail Litigation Center was established to provide a unified forum for retail corporate counsel to collaborate on legal issues that affect the industry and require coordinated engagement.
Through its programs and initiatives, the Retail Litigation Center supports retail legal teams by facilitating shared learning, strategic coordination, and access to experienced outside counsel. Since its founding, the Center has filed amicus briefs in hundreds of cases, including matters before the U.S. Supreme Court, and convenes retail legal leaders to address emerging litigation trends and evolving legal risks.
The Retail Litigation Center’s work focuses on strengthening the retail industry’s legal position by promoting collaboration, foresight, and informed advocacy in courts nationwide.
The Retail Litigation Center’s Advocacy and Defense Divisions provide opportunities for members to collaborate, learn, and engage on legal issues that shape the retail industry’s position in the courts.
