Retail Litigation Center Adds New Litigation Counsel

Today the Retail Litigation Center (RLC), the legal arm of the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), announced Larissa Whittingham has joined the organization as Litigation Counsel. Larissa previously served as Director of Employment Litigation & Employment Counsel for J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc.

“Larissa’s addition to the Retail Litigation Center reflects the RLC’s dramatic membership growth along with the constant drumbeat of mass litigation and arbitration demands filed against the retail industry,” said RLC President Deborah White. “The RLC established its innovative Defense Division in 2019 and now has 60 retail members – more than double our membership in 3 years – and 20 law firm members. Larissa brings on-point litigation experience and a deep understanding of today’s employer-specific challenges. I’m confident our members will find great value in her expertise and commitment to our mission.”

The Retail Litigation Center was founded in 2010 as the only organization dedicated to advocating for the retail industry in the federal and state judiciary. The organization has filed over 200 briefs to date, serving as the voice for the industry on key issues – and delivering results, including a landmark victory before the U.S. Supreme Court in South Dakota v. Wayfair.

Directed by the chief legal officers of the country's leading retail companies, the Retail Litigation Center (RLC) is the only organization dedicated to advocating for the industry's top priorities in the federal and state judiciary. The RLC also works with leading law firms and retail corporate counsel to develop forward-thinking strategies to combat meritless mass action litigation. Founded by the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) in 2010 as an independent organization, the RLC is a 501(c)(6) membership association open to all retailers and select law firms.
