RLC Adds New Counsel to Enhance Support for Retailers

Today the Retail Litigation Center (RLC), the legal arm of the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), announced Martina Radney will join the organization as Litigation Counsel.

“The Retail Litigation Center has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, both in membership and scope of activities, and we’re excited to add Martina’s experience in litigation and investigations to our mission supporting leading retailers,” said RLC President Deborah White.

Radney was previously Litigation Counsel at Cloudflare. Prior to that role, Radney was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb, where she also focused on litigation and investigations, as well as corporate and pro bono work. Radney is an alumna of Harvard Law School and has a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell.

The Retail Litigation Center was founded in 2010 as the only organization dedicated to advocating for the retail industry in the federal and state judiciary. The organization has filed over 200 briefs to date, serving as the voice for the industry on key issues – and delivering results, including a landmark victory before the U.S. Supreme Court in South Dakota v. Wayfair.

“The RLC will continue to be the retail industry’s leading advocate for priorities in the federal and state judiciary. Martina will bring a unique and valuable perspective to our membership as the RLC also aims to help retail corporate counsel defend their companies from costly mass action litigation,” said White. “Retailers spend large sums of money each year fighting meritless lawsuits, and our goal is to help the industry prepare and defend itself from costly and frivolous assaults from the trial bar.”

“I am excited to join such a strong, collaborative community of legal leaders with a proven track record of success advocating for the retail industry,” said Radney. “I’m looking forward to complimenting the mission of the RLC to support leading retailers as they strive to better serve every community.”
