RILA, its members and the BRC have worked closely together for the last three years to create The Global Standard for Consumer Products Issue 3 (CP3). This successful collaboration resulted in the publication of a harmonized retail Standard that efficiently addresses the safety, quality and legality of consumer products and forms the core of a robust audit program for manufacturing sites around the world. Together, RILA and BRC developed the program to include a scored audit so that sites not yet ready for full certification can participate and demonstrate their commitment and progress to the continuous improvement of their manufacturing processes. Several product category guidance documents were produced to help sites and auditors understand and assess factories in a way that is suitable for their industries.
Now that these tasks are complete, RILA is returning the technical and administrative duties for the program back to BRC. BRC will continue to work with stakeholders in the United States to ensure that the program continues to move forward and remains appropriate for a global marketplace.
