Climate and Sustainability

Retail companies are among the most recognizable company signatories and participants in climate action initiatives and have been positive contributors to the climate dialogues including creating ambitious sustainability programs. These efforts include reducing energy, greenhouse gases, and waste; ensuring safe and ethical manufacturing working conditions; addressing chemicals of concern; and empowering employees throughout the organization to pursue new sustainable innovation opportunities.

RILA is working with federal, state, and local lawmakers to ensure that legislative requirements related to operational, product and packaging sustainability including climate and waste reduction are based upon sound environmental and market impact research. These requirements should advance sustainability and public policy objectives without undue burden on the industry or our customers, while avoiding unintended consequences that undermine environmental objectives.
