Retail Industry Supports The American Dream & Promise Act

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) issued the following statement from Director of Government Affairs Joe Williamson in support of H.R. 6, The American Dream and Promise Act:

“Leading retailers unequivocally support the American Dream and Promise Act and urge all House members to vote in favor of the bill which provides Dreamers a clear path to earn lawful permanent residence and eventually, American citizenship.

“Dreamers are part of the social fabric of America and part of the retail family. In the last year, Dreamers worked throughout the retail ecosystem, keeping our supply chains and storefronts running to ensure every family had access to the goods and services they needed during the pandemic. America is their home, and it is time to honor their contributions, respect their futures, and provide these deserving young people with a permanent pathway to citizenship.

“As we strive to build an inclusive retail ecosystem, retailers want Dreamers to feel safe in their professional and personal pursuits. Their successes and achievements should be celebrated. Doing so starts with ensuring they no longer live-in fear. We look forward to doing our part to ensure this important legislation passes the House and is considered soon by the Senate so that it can be signed into law without delay.”
