As the future of large tech platforms is now up for debate in Washington, David Steele, vice president & deputy general counsel for The Home Depot, moderated an especially relevant panel on the potential evolution of antitrust jurisprudence as it relates to 21st century competition, and its policy implications for the retail sector.

As more and more retailers begin to leverage influencer networks and reputations to promote their business and increase consumer interaction, questions remain about FTC enforcement and the responsibility of retailers. In this session, Arooj Sheikh, Senior Legal Counsel, Global Employment, Abercrombie & Fitch, Co., Ateet Adhikari, General Counsel, Senior Director Strategic Initiatives, ShopRunner, Nikki Bhargava, Loeb & Loeb LLP, and Elizabeth Morgan, Loeb & Loeb LLP discussed these key questions and offered practical guidance for managing risk.

Robot Overlords: New Trends and Risks of Drones in Retail

Drones are revolutionizing consumer product delivery and being tested and deployed both in the air and on the ground for retail functions such as inventory management and customer service. Legal teams know these changes don’t come without significant risk and challenges for retailers. Jonathan Skrmetti, chief deputy attorney general, Tennessee Attorney General’s Office, and Richard Lawson and Andrew Zimmitti of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP led a session on the various legal, regulatory, and other challenges posed by such technologies.

SCOTUS 2020: Putting the Supreme Court in Focus

Three expert appellate litigators, Thomas Goldstein, Tejinder Singh, and Sarah Harrington, took the stage to discuss the Supreme Court’s key decisions from last term and what to expect as a new term begins.
