Today, the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), the trade association for today's most recognized and innovative retail brands, issued a statement following President Trump's tax reform event in Harrisburg, PA.
"As America's job creators and a vital economic driver, the retail industry has long advocated for tax reform that's good for businesses and American families. From shore to shelf, retail generates more than $3.8 trillion annually. Yet despite the industry's prominent place in our national economy, retailers face one of the highest domestic tax rates of over 36 percent. The time for tax reform is now. RILA and our members are committed to reform that lowers rates for retailers and our customers. We will continue to work with Congress and the Administration to ensure reform that works for retail and our customers," said Jennifer Safavian, executive vice president of government affairs for RILA.
RILA is the trade association of the world's largest and most innovative retail companies. RILA members include more than 200 retailers, product manufacturers, and service suppliers, which together account for more than $1.5 trillion in annual sales, millions of American jobs and more than 100,000 stores, manufacturing facilities and distribution centers domestically and abroad.
