Today, the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), the trade association for America's largest and most recognized retailers, applauded President Trump's nomination of Peter Feldman to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
"RILA is thrilled to see Peter's nomination as commissioner to CPSC. This is a welcomed announcement," said Kathleen McGuigan, SVP and deputy general counsel for RILA. "Peter has a deep understanding of the critical consumer safety protection mission of the CPSC and FTC and has been instrumental in the federal oversight of both agencies during his tenure as senior counsel to the U.S. Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. He has been an advocate for science and risk-based regulations, agency engagement with all stakeholders, including retailers, finding solutions to reduce third-party testing burdens and increased transparency into agency decision making. Once Peter is confirmed, CPSC will have a full complement of commissioners. As we continue to work with CPSC on behalf of our membership, we are excited to see Peter's nomination move forward."
RILA is the trade association of the world's largest and most innovative retail companies. RILA members include more than 200 retailers, product manufacturers, and service suppliers, which together account for more than $1.5 trillion in annual sales, millions of American jobs, and more than 100,000 stores, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers domestically and abroad.
