Delivering for the new customer

RILA’s Retail Innovation Center and Accenture are pleased to present the 2018 Delivering for the Consumer Report. The report highlights some of the most effective ways a retailer can use digital technology to communicate its purpose and connect with customers in new ways.    

Based on the views of around 3,000 consumers, as well as about 100 retail industry executive decision-makers, it identifies the trends driving consumers’ fast-evolving needs and expectations – and the most compelling retail concepts and technologies that can meet them.   

Shopping is an increasingly “invisible” activity, embedding itself seamlessly into new digital and physical channels. This report explores some of the ways consumers and retailers are thinking about these new technologies that help drive ubiquitous shopping.   

Ubiquitous and ultra-personal shopping relies one critical ingredient: data. Consumers are willing to provide data in return for something they value.
