Dr. Lael Brainard is a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. Before joining the Board Dr. Brainard held key positions critical to the U.S. economy. In 2009 she was counselor to the Secretary of Treasury and from 2010 to 2013 she served as Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. While at Treasury she also served as the U.S. representative to the G-20 Finance Deputies and G-7 Deputies and was a member of the Financial Stability Board. She holds her MS and PhD in Economics from Harvard University.
