Retailers Give Hope In The Wake Of Natural Disasters

As communities along the coast prepare for storm season and its aftermath, retailers understand that as employers and pillars in the community, they have an important role to play in both disaster preparedness and recovery, and to ensure people have the support and resources they need to weather the storm. Some of America's most recognized brands help answer the call in the wake of disaster, giving back to communities affected by the storms.

Retail is the nation's largest private sector employer, often with thousands of associates in the areas directly impacted by storms. When dangerous weather events occur, RILA members and local partners, including state retail associations, work around the clock to ensure their employees and customers are out of harm's way while bringing life-saving supplies to communities in the eye of the storm.

"Retailers are often the front line of relief for those in need. Whether it's providing water, fuel, shelter, or life-saving medicine, retailers are doing everything they can to help their associates, customers and the communities they serve rise up after the storm."
