More than 100 executives attended RILA’s third annual Women in Logistics Networking Event at the 2010 Logistics Conference in February. Having tripled in size since it began in 2008, the energy and excitement in this year’s packed event was palpable.
Sponsored by NFI, the event brought together senior supply chain executives from more than 75 retail, product manufacturer and service provider companies to network and learn from peers on ways their organizations are supporting women’s leadership and development. RILA Vice President of Global Supply Chain Policy Kelly Kolb kicked things off with a warm welcome to this year’s numerous attendees and Janet Flores, senior vice president of sales for NFI, spoke on the importance of events like this one and value of fostering leadership and diversity in business.
This year’s speakers, Amy Van Hoveln, director of sales and president of the Women’s Leadership Forum at Nestlé Purina PetCare, and Mary Stoddart, vice president, territory general manager and co-leader of WOLF@Best Buy at Best Buy Co., shared insights and lessons learned from the development of successful women’s leadership programs at their respective companies and talked about next steps for the future.
Participants then engaged in roundtable discussions on topics addressed by Mary and Amy, and other top-of-mind issues, including how to lay the groundwork to develop a women’s leadership forum in your own organization, how to strategically engage with stakeholders internally and externally to support the development and growth of a women’s leadership program, business drivers of a women’s leadership program and hot topics in supply chain management for the coming year. This year’s roundtable discussions were led by a distinguished group of fourteen senior female executives.
Following the roundtable discussions, participants enjoyed a relaxed cocktail reception and the opportunity to meet and network with other attendees.
