The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) issued the following statement in response to the decision by Senate leaders to take more time to consider health care reform legislation.
“RILA applauds the decision of Senate leaders to move deliberatively on health care legislation. With so much at stake, careful consideration of all benefits and consequences must be paramount to arbitrary deadlines. Retailers are committed to responsible health care reform that preserves the employer-based insurance system, changes our nation’s health care delivery to focus on wellness, and places cost containment on par with increasing access to care for the uninsured. RILA looks forward to continuing to work constructively with lawmakers to expand coverage and reduce costs for all individuals,” said John Emling, senior vice president of government affairs.
In a letter sent yesterday, RILA commended House Blue Dog Democrats for their commitment to responsible changes to be made to health care legislation under consideration in the House of Representatives.
