THANK YOU RILA!
The Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) would like to thank RILA for their unwavering support of LPF and their commitment to education for the LP retail industry. Since the inception of LPQ/LPC certification, RILA has been a leader in supporting LPF’s efforts to develop a quality product, to share with the LP industry the benefits of certification and to spread the word that certification has arrived. A special thanks to RILA for affording us many opportunities at the Conference to deliver our message about certification. More people are signing-up now than ever before!
We also want to recognize the following individuals who have volunteered their time to this initiative because they believe so strongly in the value of LP certification: Scott McHugh (Wal-Mart), Glenn Master (Office Depot), Tim Fisher (Best Buy), Mark Stinde (7-11), Kevin McMenimen (Enabl- u Technologies), Amber Virgillo (LossPrevention Magazine/ Contact Inc) and Terry Hodges (formerly of Sports Authority).
STAPLES TAKES LEADERSHIP ROLE IN LP CERTIFCATION
Staples, one of RILA’s newest members, has taken a leadership role in promoting certification for the loss prevention industry. Indeed, Staples is the first retailer to approve the LPQ and LPC for 100% tuition reimbursement for its’ entire loss prevention staff. Thanks, Staples for your resounding endorsement of the LPQ and LPC!
Additionally, Staples is the first retailer to have its’ internal national loss prevention conference approved as an LPF continuing education event. On a personal note, I recently had the pleasure of attending Staples’ LP conference and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. By attending this event, it became clear to me why the Staples’ LP team achieves consistent success and why they have little turnover in their department.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS FOR JOB POSTINGS
Hiring and developing your LP team can be an arduous process. You must find individuals who possess the specific skill sets and core competencies that are essential to the business, subscribe to a stand of performance that exceeds your needs and expectations and gels with the philosophy of your particular organization. While there are never any absolutes, employing tools that help maximize hiring efficiencies should be viewed as a valued resource. The LPQ and LPC certifications can provide such a resource.
Designed and developed through a collaboration of hundreds of LP leaders, business partners and the academic community, the LPQ and LPC certifications validate a level of knowledge and understanding of the core competencies that our industry leaders have identified as critical to excel as a LP professional. By reinforcing the unique relationship between industry-specific skill sets, leadership concepts and retail principles, the certifications are intended to cultivate a higher level of expertise, confirm understanding, challenge perspective, and reinforce key industry goals and objectives. It shows a commitment to learning, personal growth and career development. In fact, recognition of the value of these programs has extended beyond the business community and into the classroom, where both the LPQ and LPC programs have been accepted for college credit at both the Bachelors and Masters Degree levels.
