With the holidays just around the corner and a new administration preparing to take office in January, the next two months will be a whirlwind of activity for the retail industry. As you will see, it is a time of great activity for RILA, also as we work to keep you plugged into the latest news and vital research at this critical political and economic juncture.
The reauthorization of the Highway Bill will be one of the most crucial early tasks for the new administration and one that will greatly impact your supply chain operations. The new Transportation and Infrastructure Committee identified this issue and other top priorities, including ports regulations, for RILA in this space at the committee’s strategy-setting meeting in October.
RILA’s Supply Chain Security Committee also convened in October, meeting with several trade and security officials of the current administration as well as representatives from the new Obama administration. Committee members outlined priorities and strategy for the coming year.
In addition to the political and legislative changes on the horizon, RILA is working with Auburn University to provide you with the latest information on today's operational trends and best practices. The inaugural RILA/Auburn University State of the Retail Supply Chain annual research study will be entering its second phase shortly and you read more about the study in this issue.
As you can see, RILA is a hub of activity right now and one of your best resources for staying tuned to the current political and economic climates and the latest supply chain trends. Please take a moment to read about RILA's current activities and other news in the retail supply chain space. As always, I welcome your feedback and thoughts on how RILA can best support your supply chai needs.
May you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
Kindest regards,
