Logistics Student Scholarship Program

RILA and its Logistics Conference Steering Committee hope to encourage, interest and educate the next generation about the many opportunities available to them in the retail industry by giving them the means to attend a RILA conference. Through the Logistics Student Scholarship Program, RILA member companies have the opportunity to sponsor and mentor students whose college studies focus on the retail supply chain. The sponsoring companies accompany their student throughout the conference in an effort to provide direct insight into the retail industry, specifically in the supply chain function. A special thanks to our Logistics 2011 sponsoring companies: Canadian Tire Corporation, Walmart, American Shipping Group, Dematic Corporation, National Retail Systems, and NYK Logistics - Americas.

Scholarship recipients have been selected from Auburn University, Iowa State University, University of Toronto, Waynesbury University, Michigan State University, Northeastern University, University of Minnesota, University of Washington, Dalhousie University, Penn State University, and the University of Florida. The students have the opportunity to hear real life challenges and network with senior logistics executives at RILA's Logistics Conference, the retail supply chain conference. As part of the scholarship, the students were asked to research a topic and prepare a joint presentation during one of the event's breakout session, Future Retail Leaders. For their research, students conducted executive interviews to provide background for their presentation. The topic for the 2011 presentation is "Innovation Opportunities in Supply Chain Management: Views from the Classroom & Corporate Office."

RILA & SIFE Robert J. Verdisco Retail Scholarship
Sponsored by Unilever

RILA and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) are pleased to offer the Robert J. Verdisco Retail Scholarship, a $5,000 Unilever-sponsored scholarship to be awarded to an upperclassman pursuing a career in retail for the 2009-2010 academic year. This one-year award will be presented in late summer 2009 for the upcoming fall semester and is designated for tuition only. Application materials can be obtained from your local SIFE chapter for the 2010 Robert J. Verdisco Retail Scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements- Applicant must:

• be a full-time student with at least a junior standing and have completed at least 60 credits at the beginning of the upcoming academic year
  
• be enrolled in an accredited college or university offering a retail-oriented curriculum
  
• be an active member of your college or university's SIFE chapter
  
• have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent if college or university uses a higher scale

NOTE: Application is open to second semester sophomores conditional upon meetingall the above eligibility requirements.
