William Rhodes

Bill Rhodes is chairman, president and chief executive officer of AutoZone, Inc. Rhodes was named president, CEO and a director of AutoZone on March 13, 2005, following more than 10 years with the company where he served in a variety of executive-level roles. In June of 2007, he was additionally elected chairman. Previously, he served as executive vice president overseeing store operations and commercial. Prior to that, he served in various capacities within AutoZone, including senior vice president supply chain and information technology, senior vice president supply chain, divisional vice president of stores and senior vice president of finance.

Rhodes, who joined AutoZone in 1994, began his career with Ernst & Young serving in various capacities from 1988 to 1994.

Rhodes was elected to RILA’s board in 2007 and has served as treasurer since 2008. AutoZone has been a member of RILA since 1991. He is also a member of the Dollar General board. Rhodes also serves on several community and industry boards: Memphis Tomorrow, Youth Programs and the National Civil Rights Museum. He is a former board member of the Greater Memphis Arts Council, the Mid South Junior Golf Association and Christ Methodist Day School.

Rhodes is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin with an accounting degree. He also earned a master of business administration degree from the University of Memphis, and is a certified public accountant (inactive).
