Steven C. Preston is Executive Vice President Finance, Recycling and Energy Services at Waste Management, the leading provider of comprehensive waste management services in North America, with revenues exceeding $13 billion. He was CEO of OAKLEAF before Waste Management acquired them in August 2010. Prior to joining OAKLEAF in June 2009, Steven served as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development from 2008-2009, and Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration from 2006-2008.
Before entering public service, he spent nearly 25 years in financial and operational leadership positions in the private sector, including nine years with the ServiceMaster Company as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of Strategic Services. Previously, Steven served as Treasurer with First Data Corporation and as a Senior Vice President at a major Wall Street investment bank.
He received his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University with Highest Distinction and his MBA from the University of Chicago.
He also serves on the Wheaton Board of Trustees, the Board of the Retail Industry Leaders Association, the Board of Hartford HealthCare, is chairman of the Board of Visitors at the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University and serves on the board of the Terwilliger Center for Workforce Housing.
