Joseph McClanathan

Joseph W. McClanathan joined Eveready Battery Company in 1974 with the sales department. After several positions within sales, he moved to the marketing area as product manager in 1985 with varying responsibilities including miniature batteries, rechargeables and Energizer. He became director of trade marketing in 1992. In 1993 Eveready Battery Company acquired Energizer Power Systems, formerly known as Gates Energy Systems, in Gainesville, Florida where Joe was appointed vice president, general manager. Three years later, Joe returned to St. Louis and was appointed vice president, chief technology officer for Eveready Battery Company. In that role, he split his time between the headquarters office in St. Louis and the Westlake Production facility located in Westlake, Ohio. In June 1999, Joe was promoted to the position of chairman, North America.

In March 2002, Joe was named president, North America responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the area. In January of 2004 Joe was named president and chief executive officer of Energizer Battery.

Joe currently serves on the Board of Directors for Leggett & Platt, the Retail Industry Leaders Association, and St. Albans Country Club. He also is a member of the Leadership Council of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. Joe is a graduate of Arizona State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Management.
