William Rhodes, Chairman of the Board
William (Bill) Rhodes, III, is chairman, president and chief executive officer of AutoZone, Inc. Bill was named president and CEO of AutoZone on March 13, 2005, and chairman on June 6, 2007. He has served in a variety of executive-level roles including executive vice president overseeing store operations and commercial, senior vice president supply chain and information technology, senior vice president supply chain, divisional vice president of stores and senior vice president of finance. Bill, who joined AutoZone in 1994, began his career with Ernst & Young servicing in various capacities from 1988 to 1994.
Bill is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with an accounting degree. He also earned an M.B.A from the University of Memphis. He is a certified public accountant (inactive).
Bill currently serves on several industry and community boards: Coalition for Auto Repair Equality (CARE), Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), Memphis Tomorrow, Youth Programs, Inc. (vice-chairman) and the National Civil Rights Museum (treasurer). He is also a member of the Dollar General Board.
