Monica Mullins is the vice president of asset protection and safety for Wal-Mart Stores, US. Monica is vice-chair of RILA's Asset Protection Leaders Council comprised of the senior-most LP executives among RILA's retail members.

Lisa Labruno is the vice president of loss prevention & legal affairs at RILA.

Stan Welch is the vice president of loss prevention at J.C. Penney Company. In his position, Stan oversees more than 2000 corporate and field-level LP associates who are responsible for execution of LP programs in approximately 1100 retail locations.

RILA's Asset Protection Leaders Council (APLC) kicked-off their process driven shrink initiative in October at Best Buy's headquarters in Minneapolis. The initiative highlights the importance of understanding the critical role operational failures play in explaining the root causes of shrink.

Last month, RILA’s Loss Prevention Steering Committee (LPSC) gathered in Washington, DC, to officially kick-off conference planning for the 2012 Loss Prevention, Auditing & Safety Conference slated for April 22 – April 25 at the Gaylord Texan in Dallas.

There is a lot of LP innovation and hardcore research going on right now. The Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC) just held its 7th annual Impact Conference hosted by member Office Depot this month.

In October, RILA drafted and submitted a comment letter to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in response to its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Injury and Illness Recording and Reporting Requirements.

The unfortunate answer is yes and the blame lies in large part with us - with the community as a whole. From parents to retail stores to law enforcement to prosecutors and the courts, we all have a hand in inadvertently promoting juvenile shoplifting.

In October, members of RILA's Crimes Against Business Committee and distinguished guests spent the day talking crime – trends, leading practices to mitigate risk, successful prosecution strategies, partnerships, technology and more.

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) participated in the National Emergency Managers Association (NEMA) Emergency Management Policy & Leadership Forum in Austin, Texas, in October. Over the course of four days, RILA sat side-by-side with state emergency management directors from across the country to hear stakeholders discuss a broad range of topics, participate in the dialogue and help find sustainable solutions that will benefit the retail industry.

November 2011 - With the official start of the holiday season just two weeks away, loss prevention executives from RILA member companies have been busy holding down their respective forts, preparing for the many challenges that rear their ugly heads this time of year.

September 2011 - It was a busy end-of-summer for the RILA Loss Prevention team and the fall has kicked-off with a flurry of activity.
